Release Notes 4.18.0¶
Overview¶
This document outlines the updates, improvements, and fixes introduced between versions 4.17.0 (released on Jan 26, 2026) and 4.18.0 (released on Feb 9, 2026) of the Excalibur v4 software.
New Features¶
Session Activity Timeline & Playback¶
We’ve introduced a redesigned Session Detail experience that provides clearer visibility and better navigation of user activity during PAM sessions.
- Expanded activity tracking: Sessions now capture key events such as session start/end, file uploads and downloads, and user input actions including copy, paste, and typed input.
- Visual activity timeline: A new timeline displays user actions in chronological order, making it easy to understand what happened during a session at a glance.
- Quick navigation: Click any event in the timeline to instantly jump to that moment in the session recording.
- Live playback sync: The timeline automatically highlights actions as the session plays, keeping activity and video perfectly aligned.
- Searchable history: Quickly find specific actions or inputs using built-in search.
- Optimized performance: Large sessions load smoothly with progressive loading for a fast, responsive experience.
- Cleaner interface: A simplified design improves readability and makes important events easier to identify.

Flexible Tenant Deletion & Lifecycle Management¶
We’ve introduced a more powerful and flexible approach to tenant lifecycle management, giving administrators full control over how tenants are deactivated or permanently removed.
-
Soft Delete (Decommissioning)
Tenants can be safely decommissioned and placed in read-only mode while users retain access to existing data and recordings until a scheduled deletion date. -
Hard Delete (Immediate Removal)
Permanently remove a tenant and all associated resources when required for legal, compliance, or operational reasons. -
Scheduled Permanent Deletion
Soft-deleted tenants now have a required, clearly defined permanent deletion date, ensuring automatic cleanup and preventing inactive tenants from lingering indefinitely. -
Deployment-Level Configuration
Each deployment can define whether deletions default to soft or hard mode, aligning with organizational policies and compliance needs. -
Read-Only Safeguards
Decommissioned tenants block changes while still allowing login and essential user management actions, protecting data integrity. -
Clear Status & Transparency
Deleted and decommissioned tenants remain visible in the system view with status indicators and scheduled deletion dates for full lifecycle visibility. -
User Notifications
Users see a persistent in-app banner when accessing a decommissioned tenant, clearly communicating its read-only state and final removal date. -
Automatic Cleanup
Expired data, infrastructure, and tenant resources are automatically removed, including background and environment cleanup. -
Audit Logging
All tenant lifecycle actions (create, update, soft delete, hard delete) are logged for traceability and compliance.
This enhancement delivers safer tenant management, clearer expectations, and automated cleanup — helping teams stay compliant while reducing operational overhead.

- Smoothly navigate across the full session without resizing or zooming
- Improves usability and visibility when working with high-resolution or multi-screen environments
